yep, somedays I have troubles remembering ....er, ....what was I gonna say???

so here is the question:
you need to contact a company for whatever reason, your 2 options for this contact are a phone message or email, which do you do?

In the related question, you are the company that gets that contact---when you first get to work which do you check first? your phone messages or your email (and which do you reply to first?).....

why I am asking....my hubby likes to use email as his way of contact, however, I find that it can takes days (weeks or even longer) to get a reply from a company (see my mobo story on that one), while calling a company usually gets you some one to speak to---though I find that MOST companies fail to call people back who leave voice mail (if I had a dollar for every person/company who said they would call me back and didnt I would have more money that bill gates and the rockerfellers COMBINED!)....so if I do not reach someone to speak with, I usually just call back (or find a different company to work with), I rarely use email as a form of contact unless I have no other options (can you say ebay? or yahoo????).

what is your experience?

Livingroom - Check
Kitchen - Check
Bedroom - Check
Den - Check
Utility Room - Check

Left to do; Shred documents, finish cleaning entertainment center in den, call Disabled Vets Admin to pickup boxes of clothing, finish washing drapes, steam clean sleeper couch in den.

Worst part of all the cleaning, cleaning and protecting 3 rooms of floor to ceiling paneling. Cleaning the carpet was a pain too, but not as rough as the paneling.

Time to sit on front porch and take a coffee break.

I'm much better at responding via email than I am via phone. So I am usually on top of that. I respond ASAP. I try to email first and if I don't get a response through that then I will call.

Wow, nicely done Perk. You are definitely getting there!

I prefer communicating via a phone. Email equals delayed response.

Beautiful day for doing outside work.

yeah its pretty dang nice today, however, my a/c is on ---computers do not mix with hot weather well (think its part of why my old mobo died)...so not looking forward to the utility bills this month, and living on the top floor means HOT summers and COLD winters (forget about that insulation stuff--doesnt seem to work here).

and wow, moving pretty quick on that clean up....wanna come farther north and do mine? (bats eyes).

The ac in the livingroom is a circa 1980 model. Was warned, expensive to run. When it comes time to keep the computer cool, I will move to the den and run the small window unit.

Perhaps, I can be convinced to clean another place, but I can make no promises right now.

guess I will try to be more persuasive in the future! (and I am not a hoarder, just not a fan of that cleaning bit).

yeah, a/c is expensive to run (we only have about 800 sq ft to cool but the bills last year went into the 3 digit area ....and our a/c unit is from the 80's too!)

I have a small window mounted unit and that is it. Wish I had central air though...

central air is nice but costly.
If you have fans and such you can almost get away with just a window unit (especially if you are on just one floor, the unit is in the correct window and you dont have too many rooms to cool--so a small apartment can be cooled well with just that unit).
Just gotta know the tricks of where to put the fans, and hope you have windows and such in the right places for cross ventilation. (having lived in japan--see 100+ temps and extremely high humidity (more than florida even!)--I can say that putting those things in the right places and having fans to pull thru the rest of the apartment is an art form and can make the rest of the apartment live-able).

oy, its looks like its going to be another nice day and then, yes, rain again...though it also looks like the east coast is getting some as well---hope rr is happy its coming his way.

Mine does okay. I need to stop putting it on the setting that turns it off when it is "cool enough" since that turns out to be 74 by the window and 80 on the other side of the apartment...

Rain today... Sun on Monday.

just sit by the window
yeah thermostats are a bit off usually (ours works for the a/c but not for the heat---no way, if its set to 75 in the front room, the bed rooms are lucky to be in the mid 60's, and if you use the oven, it will never come on!). There needs to be more than one of them to make it work properly, but heck that would be smart, and most builders go for easy not smart. (hence why ours is on the same wall as the oven just on the living rooms side of it---makes for some really cold summers so we have to watch when we bake in the summer!!)

supposed to get rain for the next few days....none yet (that I can see---).

Our thermostat for the furnace, takes a direct hit from the ceiling duct in the livingroom. The den draws its heat from bathroom duct, on the other end of the house. To keep heat in the bathroom, we close the door. The den is the coolest room in the house. Next winter, we will find out how much cooler.

One heck of an electrical storm moved through last night, after the wife got home from work. The son called from our country house last night, saying lightning struck one of the big trees at the back of the property. Sunny and bright right now, with another chance of storms tonight.

Guess I should try to mow later today. (Hate the "Smiths & Jones" attitudes that come with city living.) Everyone scalps their lawns, I prefer longer, lush grass.

Enjoy your day!

I sit as close to it as I can. And I'm really kind of surrounded by windows as well. But the cross ventilation doesn't always work sadly.

Supposed to get some storms tonight, so we will see what happens with those. Could be strong apparently.

yeah, we dont have good cross ventilation here either (could be we only have the door open and it faces east...but---) was cooler the last 2 days...hints of rain in the air (very little hitting the ground though).
spent the day ....cleaning (or playing tetris as my hubby calls it...moving stuff from here to there and then rearranging it back in the first place), need to buy a new vaccuuuuummmm cleaner...my old one cant handle picking up my hair --its toooooo long and gets the brushes clogged and then the motor on that part burns out (and a wonderful smell it has too).

Happy Mother's Day to all Moms!!!

New record low this morning 33°, going for 88° for a high tomorrow.

Had our first gathering at our new house yesterday. Celebrated our granddaughter's 9th birthday. Big turnout. She had a blast with her cousins and a couple of friends.

Those that knew the "Before" appearance of the house gave "rave" reviews of the "After". "The best they had seen it in more than 5 years."

A niece is in the hospital this AM, giving birth to her first child. Could tell yesterday today was to be the day. All is going "ok", just a little slow for her.

Indeed, though I don't think anyone who still frequents here is a mother. o.O

It has been cooler this weekend. Supposed to be cool again tomorrow before warming up on Tuesday.

Glad you got the house all fixed up and everything.

Never hurts to still say it in case one lurks though.

I had dinner with my mom and family so that was a lot of fun. And wished her a happy mothers day of course.

Didn't do much yesterday either. Besides dinner with the family. Now back to work. Last full week with the students... Almost there!
